Lackagh Museum and Heritage Centre

Om museet

Lackagh Museum and Heritage Centre is a community museum in the parish of Lackagh, near Turloughmore in County Galway. It is run by the Lackagh Museum and Community Development Association, a registered charity with volunteer members, which became a company limited by guarantee in 2018.

The museum is housed in a cottage and shows a selection of antique household items that were once part of everyday life in the rural houses of the area. The heritage centre also holds local-history material, and the association publishes books and research on the parish, including the townland of Lackaghbeg, the Fair of Turloughmore, the Battle of Knockdoe and the archaeological sites of the area.

The association also records the oral history of senior parishioners, takes part in National Heritage Week and raises money for the upkeep of the museum through a weekly lotto.
