Om museet

The museum is dedicated to the engineer Henri Tudor (1859–1928), who significantly improved the lead-acid battery. His storage cells made electric street lighting possible, among other things; Tudor also worked on modernizing agriculture and transport. The exhibition is housed in Rosport Castle, Tudor’s last residence, built in 1892, where he died in 1928.

The building later served as a guesthouse and hotel, among other uses. In 1970, the municipality of Rosport bought it for its administration, which still operates there today. As early as 1995, a decision was made to set up a museum, and in 2009 it opened to visitors under the association “Les Amis du Musée Henri Tudor.”

The exhibition combines classic showpieces with interactive stations and tells the story of electricity, from the first observations of static charge to the batteries that Tudor perfected. Visitors can take part in experiments and generators powered by bicycle.
