Om museet

The Gothic house dates from the 15th century. Almost derelict, it was bought by the municipality from its last owner, August Gliederer, and restored from 1965 to 1969. In 1969 it was opened as the "Brunner Heimathaus" and handed over to an association for management; the first chairman was the veterinarian Ludwig Müllner. The house has been a listed building since 1960.

The reason for saving it was the Rudolf Steiner Memorial on the first floor: the family of the founder of anthroposophy lived here from 1884 to 1890, when his father was the head of the Brunn freight station. In the study above the front door, Rudolf Steiner wrote the introduction to Goethe's scientific writings. Two memorial rooms with a bust and family photographs are looked after by a memorial committee.

The house also holds collections on local history, including a Neolithic Museum, a Roman Museum, a Brewery Museum and a Beekeeping Museum. Since October 2010 the archive has been located in the garden. The Heimathaus is the home of numerous Brunn associations; open-air events take place in the courtyard, and an Advent market before Christmas.
