Om museet
The museum in Eggenham near Franking is a private collection run by Siegfried and Maria Spitzwieser, which describes itself as the largest of its kind in the German-speaking region. Over 3,000 original devices document how film and television technology developed. The museum gives no information about its founding year.
The cinema section presents European cinema technology of the past hundred years and looks behind the scenes of film projection; some projectors are ready to run and are put into operation. The television section begins with the black-and-white technology of the 1950s, with tube equipment as well as cameras and studio gear. In a fully equipped TV studio, visitors can edit picture and sound themselves.
The third area is devoted to home cinema: from small-gauge film technology of the 1930s, which was accessible to only a few people, to the slide shows of the 1970s that were part of everyday life in many living rooms.
