Om museet

The Patek Philippe Museum goes back to the collecting passion of Philippe Stern, honorary president of the manufacture, who over the years assembled one of the most important watch collections in the world. The museum aims to convey the art of fine watchmaking to a broad public, preserve Geneva's watchmaking heritage and inspire future generations with it.

The collection is housed in an Art Deco building that Patek Philippe acquired in 1975. It was home to the "Ateliers Réunis", a production site for cases and bracelets in which traditional Geneva goldsmithing techniques were carried on. After this production moved to the plant in Plan-les-Ouates in 1996, the building was restored from 1999 and extended by one floor. It opened as a museum in November 2001.

The antiques collection on the second floor shows more than 1,000 watches and enamel works from the 16th to the 19th century, including the first portable timepieces and automata. On the first floor, the Patek Philippe collection presents pocket and wrist watches since 1839, such as the company's first wristwatch of 1868 and the Calibre 89 with 33 complications. On the ground floor, the "Atelier des Artisans" shows old workbenches and tools along with a restoration workshop; on the third floor are the library with over 8,000 publications and a collection of enamel miniatures and snuffboxes.
