Om museet

The Ortsmuseum Lausen (local history museum) opened in 1990 in the former sexton's barn, which belongs to the historically significant church ensemble of the village and is listed in the cantonal inventory of protected cultural monuments. The building stands directly next to the Reformed church.

On the upper floor the museum shows village history under the title "Lausen – ein Dorf im Wandel der Zeit", supplemented by an audio-visual slideshow on local history. On the ground floor the exhibitions change: they deal with regional and current topics and present collections as well as works by artists and private collectors.

The museum is open only a few days a month, and admission is free. Groups can book a guided tour outside opening hours by arrangement, and an apéro can be organized for birthdays or other gatherings.
