Om museet
María Pilar Burges (Zaragoza, 1928–2008) was one of the leading figures of 20th-century Aragonese art and the first doctor of Fine Arts in Aragon. She had a special bond with Fayón, where she painted the frescoes of the Nuestra Señora del Pilar hermitage in 1954 and later resumed the decoration of this church. The village made her an adoptive daughter posthumously in 2017.
After her death, her family donated some 200 works and a documentary archive to the Fayón town council in 2015, which committed itself to creating a permanent museum space. The space opened its doors in November 2021 in a municipal building that also houses the Museo de la Batalla del Ebro. The town council invested around €75,000 in fitting it out.
The room covers about 400 m² and displays more than 80 works, including paintings, triptychs, portraits, stained glass and collages, together with the artist’s personal objects, such as her brushes and easel. Part of the collection rotates, so the remaining works will be shown over time. Her diaries, writings and other documents are kept for consultation by researchers.

The space is in the same building as the Museo de la Batalla del Ebro, in the town centre of Fayón. The tourist office is located at Rivus Coworking, Calle Matarraña 3.
