Contemporary art centre in Amposta with free exhibitions, educational activities and an artists’ residency in the Ebro Delta.

Lo Pati is the art centre of the Terres de l’Ebre and is based in Amposta, on the site where the courtyard of the public schools used to be; hence its name. It aims to be the hub of visual arts initiatives in the comarques of Montsià, Baix Ebre, Ribera d’Ebre and Terra Alta, and works in dissemination, training, production, collection and archiving as part of the Xarxa de Centres d’Arts Visuals de Catalunya. Its work revolves around the relationship between art and nature, with the Ebro river and the delta as its reference territory.

Its roots lie in the Ciutat d’Amposta National Competition of Plastic Arts, held since 1956, and in the Biennal d’Art Ciutat d’Amposta, held since 1989. In 2003, a set of talks on art in a future situation marked the starting point of the centre, which began programming continuously as the Espai d’Arts Visuals d’Amposta in the rooms of the Museu del Montsià, before becoming the present art centre.

The building has a fixed exhibition area of 584 m². The centre also runs an artists’ residency in Balada, in the heart of the Ebro Delta. Its programme includes exhibitions, interventions on the building’s façade, educational activities under the name Lo Safareig, and a media library.
