Om museet
The Museo Municipal de El Puerto de Santa María opened in 1982 as a public centre responsible for conserving, restoring and disseminating the archaeological, artistic and ethnographic heritage of the town. Its main sections are Archaeology and Fine Arts, and there is a plan to also form an Ethnology section.
Its traditional home at calle Pagador, 1 is closed due to relocation. The collections are now displayed at El Hospitalito, the former Hospital de la Divina Providencia, an 18th-century building at the junction of calle Ganado and calle Zarza, which was used as a school at the end of the 19th century. The building is being renovated to become the future Museo del Patrimonio Histórico (MUPAH).
The room allows visitors to trace local history from the Palaeolithic, with fossil remains, up to the Roman period, and continues with the Visigothic period, Al-Andalus and the Late Middle Ages, with pieces found at sites in the municipality such as Doña Blanca.

- Época visigoda y Al-Andalus – Grave goods from Visigothic necropolises and Andalusi material from farmsteads (alquerías), such as kitchen pieces and vessels for water and wine.
- Baja Edad Media – Room on the medieval town after the Carta Puebla, with tableware in the Mudéjar tradition from the Monasterio de la Victoria.
