Om museet
The Palacio de Mon is a building in the Asturian Baroque style with Galician influence, erected in several phases over the 18th century on an earlier core. The rubble-stone tower on the right would be the origin of the complex and could date back to the 16th century; the rest of the building, of ashlar stone, was built in the late 17th or 18th century.
It has an irregular layout organised around a central courtyard, and its main façade, facing south, has a lower central section between two square towers. On the upper floor there are overhanging balconies with wrought-iron railings and three coats of arms, of which the central one, the largest, shows the arms of the Mon family. Among the spaces on show are an interior corridor and the Chapel of San Fernando.
