Om museet
The Planetario de Madrid is a centre of the Culture, Tourism and Sport Area of Madrid City Council, devoted to spreading astronomy and science in general. It opened on 29 September 1986 and is located in the Parque Tierno Galván.
Between 2016 and 2017 the building and its facilities were thoroughly renovated, both technologically and in their spaces, thanks to a collaboration agreement between the City Council and the social work foundation “la Caixa”, which included new content, exhibitions and activities.
Today the centre offers audiovisual projections of about 30 minutes that are renewed regularly, free-admission exhibitions, workshops, courses, lectures and public observation sessions. During the school year, weekday mornings are reserved for schoolchildren, and afternoons, public holidays and weekends are for the general public.
