Kotulova dřevěnka is a log building from 1781 and is among the oldest folk buildings in Těšín Silesia. It is the last surviving testimony to the original development on the territory of today's Havířov, a town that arose only in the period of coal mining and grew up on the site of older villages.
Today the dřevěnka is a branch of the Museum of Těšín Silesia. The permanent exhibition shows how people lived and worked in the central part of Těšín Silesia at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries. Visitors see period furniture and ceramics from the Bludovice workshops. The homestead also includes a brick barn with a cowshed and a windmill, the so-called viatrak, whose operation can be viewed.
The site opens seasonally, from May to October, and is closed in the winter months.

Prices follow the price list for the “other branches” of the Museum of Těšín Silesia. Holders of the Těšín Silesia Region Card receive a 50% discount. Admission is free for children under 6, members of AMG, ICOM and the Club of the Museum of Těšín Silesia, one teacher per 10 children, companions of ZTP/P holders and journalists. Photography without flash is free.
