The Muzeum přírody Český ráj (Museum of Nature Český ráj) was founded on 24 July 2002 as a natural history museum in the village of Prachov, near the Prachov Rocks. Permanent exhibitions have been set up and expanded gradually since 2003. The museum is housed in a wooden single-storey building on the grounds of the Turistické centrum Český ráj (Český ráj Tourist Centre), where accommodation and meals can also be arranged. It is run by an association of the same name.
The permanent exhibition covers the nature of the Prachov Rocks, Český ráj and the area around Jičín, and includes a collection of rocks and minerals. A special section called Žabí ráj (Frog Paradise) presents amphibians and a collection of objects in the shape of frogs from many continents. In front of the building is a mini botanical garden with trees and herbs of Český ráj, outdoor terrariums, enclosures and habitats for wild animals, with ponds for amphibians, an insect hotel and a beetle nursery.
The museum organises exhibitions, lectures, guided tours and educational programmes for schools and families. Since 2006 it has commemorated the battles of the Austro-Prussian War of 1866 that took place in the area, and since 2019 it has operated an online weather station. Each year it organises events such as the spring and autumn Žabí běh (Frog Run) and an exhibition of nativity scenes.
