Om museet
The Museum of the Village of South-Eastern Moravia is an ethnographic open-air museum in Strážnice. The site consists of several sections presenting folk buildings from different parts of the region: the Moravian Kopanice, the Zálesí of Luhačovice and the Horňácko, as well as water-engineering structures, viticultural buildings and meadow farming. A typical landscape, planting, vineyards and the meadows along the Morava are part of the presentation.
The interiors of the buildings are furnished according to the estate inventories of rural subjects, partly with the original furnishings of relocated houses and objects from the collections of the Institute of Folk Art Production, today the National Institute of Folk Culture. The visitor facilities, with the ticket offices, are in the building of a Baroque brewery; this part was opened to the public only at the beginning of the 1990s. The introductory exhibitions for each section are supplemented by texts, photographs and collection objects.
Thematic programmes and programmes for schools take place on the site, for example on winter and spring customs, traditional crafts, autumn farm work and Advent. The museum also focuses on earth construction and organises an exhibition on it. Every year part of the International Folklore Festival in Strážnice takes place on the site.

The paths are mostly gravel, stony or grass and are harder to pass in the rain, with gradients of over 8% in places, although the routes allow these places to be avoided. Most buildings are difficult to access for visitors in wheelchairs; after buying a ticket, the museum offers material with photographs of the interiors.
