Om museet
The town of Humpolec opened the beekeeping open-air museum in September 2007, on the occasion of one hundred years of organised beekeeping in the Humpolec area. It is housed in the beekeepers' house at No. 254 on Dolní náměstí and belongs to the town. In 2011 it received the Kudy z nudy Award.
The open-air museum consists of an outdoor and an indoor part. Outside, various types of hives are displayed, from the log hive through the budečák to modern frame hives, including foreign exhibits. Inside, visitors can see wooden and tin honey extractors, smokers and other beekeeping equipment, and photographs from the activities of the local beekeepers' association. The exhibition also includes bee products such as honey, wax, propolis and mead.
