Anne Frank Zentrum
Interactive, inclusive exhibition “Alles über Anne” (All About Anne) on Anne Frank's life and diary at Hackescher Markt in Berlin-Mitte.
Om museet
The roots of the Anne Frank Zentrum go back to 1994: to mark the 50th anniversary of the end of the war, the international traveling exhibition “Die Welt der Anne Frank. 1929–1945” was to be shown in Berlin. A friends' association was founded to organize it; the first venue opened on December 7, 1994, on Rosenthaler Straße, followed by other districts.
After a cooperation agreement with the Anne Frank House in Amsterdam, the center opened its own premises on Oranienburger Straße on June 12, 1998, Anne Frank's birthday. Since September 2002, it has been located in Haus Schwarzenberg next to the Hackesche Höfe, in a former linen factory in the heart of what was once the center of Jewish life in the Spandauer Vorstadt neighborhood.
The current permanent exhibition “Alles über Anne” opened in November 2018 and was developed together with the Anne Frank House. It combines photos and documents on the family's history with questions about the present and is deliberately designed to be inclusive. The nonprofit association is the German partner organization of the Amsterdam house; it organizes traveling exhibitions, training courses and the nationwide Anne Frank Day in schools. Veronika Nahm has directed the center since 2021.
