Om museet

The artist Bernhard Müller-Feyen was born in Adenau in 1931. He studied stained glass painting in Rheinbach and free and applied painting at the Kölner Werkschulen (Cologne art schools), then worked as a freelance painter in Cologne and taught at the art academy in Istanbul in the early 1960s. From 1965 he lived and worked as a freelance artist in Adenau, where he died in August 2004. His oeuvre comprises painting, drawing and sculpture; typical are geometric color-field painting, the "Minimals", and the "Schlaufen" (loops) as the basic form of his sculptures.

In October 2005 the Kunststiftung Bernhard Müller-Feyen was founded in Adenau. It aims to make the artistic estate of drawings, paintings and sculptures accessible to a broad public through exhibitions and events, and to compile a catalogue raisonné.

Since 2020 the foundation has used rooms at the Straußenpesch on Lohmühlenstraße to store, restore and present the works. Since May 2022 the sculpture garden there has also been open to the public; it was created with funding from the LEADER program and shows large sculptures as well as stone and iron sculptures. It is part of a sculpture trail that links the artist's works across the town of Adenau.

From the direction of Bonn or Koblenz, follow the Hauptstraße, turn into Straussenpesch and, after about 200 m (behind the police station), turn right into Lohmühlenstraße. Navigation address: Lohmühlenstraße 9-5, 53518 Adenau.
