Om museet
The Heimatstube Erlenbach opened on March 12, 1989, mainly thanks to the initiative of Alfred Hennegriff, a native of Erlenbach who furnished it almost single-handedly. It was the first museum of today's town of Ravenstein and was first housed on the upper and attic floors of the renovated former school building.
When the rooms were needed to expand the kindergarten, the museum moved in May 1994 to the former bull barn beside the community center. Over two years Hennegriff gathered around 300 objects, going from house to house. Apart from one kerosene lamp, everything comes from Erlenbach.
The largest pieces include a horse-drawn sleigh, a cart, a winnowing mill, a complete shoemaker's workshop and various pieces of furniture. The collection is not arranged chronologically; instead it shows how people in the village lived and worked in the past.
