Om museet
The Karl-Wörn-Haus is the museum of the city of Schwetzingen. It was housed in the former management building of the Max Bassermann canning factory, which is part of the Vereinshaus Bassermann complex.
The permanent exhibition was laid out chronologically and told the history of the Schwetzingen settlement site: from the formation of the natural landscape of the Upper Rhine Graben, through the settlement of the first farmers, to the present day. Changing traveling and special exhibitions added further topics from Schwetzingen and the surrounding area.
Because a move is planned, the house will remain closed for several years. In the meantime, under the title "Museum frei Haus. Kultur da, wo Du bist" (roughly: Museum Free at Home. Culture Where You Are), the museum offers workshops, lectures and hands-on activities at various locations in the town, as well as a monthly "Objekt des Monats" (Object of the Month).
