Om museet
The Kolping Museum in Kerpen commemorates Adolph Kolping, who was born here in 1813. The brick house at the Obermühle stands on the site of his birth house and has belonged to the Kolping Society since 1921; the museum has been housed in the annex since 1963. For his 200th birthday, the exhibition was fundamentally redesigned in 2012.
On display are personal everyday objects, furniture and documents from Kolping's possessions, including a shoemaker's table and shoemaking tools that recall his years as a journeyman. Architectural staging, texts, interactive elements, and film and audio documents guide visitors through the stations of his work, the present-day work of the International Kolping Society, and Kolping's beatification in 1991.
