Exhibition by the 2026 recipient of the Reisestipendium Europa in Niedersachsen (travel grant): paintings that emerged from observations, notes, and photographs made during her stay in Neuenkirchen.
Om museet
The Springhornhof is an old farmstead in the heart of Neuenkirchen near Soltau. In the 1960s, gallerist Ruth Falazik turned it into a venue for contemporary art, bringing avant-garde positions to the heathland village. From 1977 onward, the Springhornhof invited artists to symposia at which, under the guiding idea “Material aus der Landschaft” (material from the landscape), works were created directly in the surrounding fields, forests, and meadows – the beginning of one of Europe's early land art projects.
Since then, the Kunst-Landschaft (art landscape) has grown steadily. Today more than forty sculptures and installations are spread across the villages and surrounding lands of Neuenkirchen: from stone settings of the late 1970s and works by Tony Cragg, Micha Ullman, and Mark Dion to Elmgreen & Dragset's “Park für unerwünschte Skulpturen” (Park for Unwanted Sculptures) in Tewel. Some older works have decayed or been rebuilt, and new ones are added regularly.
After Falazik's death in 1998, the Stiftung Springhornhof (foundation) was established in 1999 to secure the exhibition program and the art landscape for the long term; it runs the house jointly with the Kunstverein Springhornhof (art association). In the converted stables, the Kunstverein presents several changing exhibitions a year, often featuring works that guest artists develop in the on-site studio. Behind the exhibition building lies the sculpture garden of sculptor HAWOLI (1935–2025), who lived and worked here.
