Om museet

The Puppenwelt in Lichtenberg is a private collection that its owner assembled over many years. The motivation was the wish to preserve for future generations the play with dollhouses that grandparents and great-grandparents already loved, and to bring back memories of childhood.

On display are dollhouses furnished as kitchens, bedrooms and living rooms, ranging from simple to lavish models. Clothing, bed linen, curtains, sofas and armchairs were made entirely by hand or partly re-upholstered; every piece of fabric and lace is meant to suit its period. The miniatures thus also reflect living conditions and habits of past eras. The collection is supplemented by GDR toys and doll carriages.
