About the museum
The museum's roots go back to 1910, when a first local history collection was set up in Poysdorf. This became a local heritage museum in 1958, which moved into the former Bürgerspital (burghers' hospital) in 1978. In 2004 it was remodelled into a wine experience world and reopened as the Weinstadtmuseum (wine town museum).
In April 2014 the town of Poysdorf opened the Vino Versum, which combines a museum, wine market and tourist information on Brünner Straße. The ensemble comprises the baroque Bürgerspital, an outdoor area with a Mount of Olives chapel, vineyards and press houses, a new building and an adapted 19th-century house.
The centrepiece is the WEIN+TRAUBEN Welt (Wine and Grape World): in the grape hall with interactive stations and a museum cinema, everything revolves around the vine and the grape, the Bürgerspital tells the history of the wine town, and the press museum shows the development of wine technology. There are also historic cellars, an ice cellar and a grape playground for children. At the end, a wine or grape juice tasting awaits at the Weinmarkt Poysdorf.
