About the museum
The local history museum in the former herdsman's house goes back to the collection of the farmer Johann Schodl, who died in 1972. It is run by the Dorfmuseum Herrnbaumgarten association. The museum includes the inventory of a Greißlerei (small grocery shop): the “Vermischte Warenhandlung Brüger” (founded 1877) with its original inventory was dismantled completely and installed in a newly built room in the former museum barn, with the original door and shop window on the façade.
The First Austrian Kitchen Museum was set up in the flat of the herdsman's house and shows various kitchens of the 20th century. In April 2018 it was extended to include the oldest house in the village, which the municipality had previously bought; the opening took place on 28 April 2018. There you can see fully furnished kitchens from the years 1900 to 1970.
Among the displays are an original 1960s kitchen with “Daisy” Lilien porcelain, a pantry cupboard with historic storage containers and a large collection of cookie cutters and kitchen utensils.
