About the museum
Animalaine is a living wool museum in Bizory, a hamlet of Bastogne. It is run by a non-profit association which also hosts, on the same site, people with intellectual disabilities, with the aim of social and professional reintegration.
The visit takes place in three stages. Visitors first discover an animal park where around 25 species of woolly animals live. Guides then present the stages of wool work, as practised today and as it was done at the beginning of the 20th century. The final stage is a reconstructed period house, which evokes the life and trades of the past.
The site also includes a shop, a café with terrace, free parking and a fruit press, which can be used by appointment. Wool workshops (felting, weaving, crafts) are offered to groups and schools.
