About the museum
The museum was founded in 2018 by four retired firefighters in a small former fire station in Niederwiltz; two more comrades joined at the end of 2018. The City of Wiltz leases the building to the national firefighters’ federation FNSP for €1 a year. The team carried out most of the renovation itself, supported by sponsors.
On December 21, 2019, the association “Les amis du Musée des Pompiers” was founded. It is a member of the firefighters’ federation and runs the museum on the federation’s behalf. Among the exhibits is the federation’s first restored historic vehicle; the museum’s website provides information on the restoration work.
