About the museum
The Duivekeethoeve is on the Durmstraat in Zomergem, a sub-municipality of Lievegem. In the orchard of the farmyard stands a square brick pigeon tower of three storeys, which probably dates back to the 17th century. The name refers to a “duyvekeete”, a pigeon loft, which is already mentioned in 1735 in the sales deed of the vanished Kasteel van Durmen, to which the farm reportedly belonged.
A museum with old farm implements and farm vehicles can be visited at the farm. During the Kanaalfeesten (Canal Festival) the museum is open continuously, and walking groups start their route with a visit to the museum and the pigeon tower.
