About the museum
The Literární památník Vysočiny is located in Tasov, in the building of the former burghers' school, which remained unused after a new primary school building was built. It was solemnly opened on 30 September 2002. The founder is the municipality of Tasov, and the professional guarantor is the Západomoravské muzeum v Třebíči. Most of the costs were covered by the municipality; the Vysočina Region, the Dagmar and Václav Havel Foundation VIZE 97 and donors also made significant contributions.
So far only the first part of the exhibition, in two rooms, is open. The smaller room, formerly the staff room, is devoted above all to Jakub Deml (1878–1961), a poet and priest and native of Tasov. On display are parts of his furniture designed by the architect Bohuslav Fuchs, a bust by the sculptor Kapinus, documents, and Deml's books, including the manuscript of a recipe that the poet wrote down. The larger room briefly presents the history of Tasov and its local monuments; it contains paintings by regional painters and display cases with books and documents by local authors.
After the visit you can go to Deml's grave in the old cemetery by the Church of Saints Peter and Paul, or to the memorial plaque on the entrance gate of Deml's villa in Bosna.
