About the museum

Behind the museum is Dansk Datahistorisk Forening (DDHF), whose members call themselves "Dataarkæologerne" (the data archaeologists). The association collects, registers and preserves devices and documents from Danish computer development, which began in 1957 with the DASK computer. Besides hardware, it archives manuals, brochures and software in its own bit archive; a wiki serves as a digital museum with pictures and articles on pioneering companies such as Regnecentralen, Christian Rovsing and Dansk Data Elektronik.

Around 2007 there were plans for a "Niels Ivar Bech Computermuseum" in Ballerup, named after the long-time director of Regnecentralen; the project failed, however, for lack of funding. On April 3, 2022, the association finally opened its own museum in the former Charlotteskolen on Charlottegårdsvej in Hedehusene.

The volunteers restore old systems so that they run again, making the history of technology tangible – including GIER from 1960, the first series-produced computer in Denmark. The collection also includes machines from Regnecentralen such as the RC Piccolo and Piccoline as well as home computers such as the Commodore PET and Commodore 64.
