Andels Elmuseum
Denmark's first electricity museum in the basement of the energy supplier Andel in Haslev – household and electrical appliances from about 100 years, free admission.
About the museum
The museum was founded in 1978 on the initiative of a small group of employees of the regional energy supplier SEAS and is considered Denmark's first electricity museum. SEAS later merged into SEAS-NVE, which now operates under the name Andel; the collection now carries its name after this sponsor.
The museum is housed in the basement of the company buildings on Energivej in Haslev. It is run on a volunteer basis by former employees, who tell guests about their working lives and from various archives. All objects come from donations by private individuals and institutions.
On display is how electrical appliances changed everyday life in Danish households over a century: kitchen appliances, washing machines, heaters, lamps, radios, record players, televisions, and dynamo flashlights. There are also old measuring instruments, an extensive collection of photos and trade journals, and a section on how the power grid was monitored and maintained. Many pieces may be viewed up close and even touched.
