About the museum
TYPA (Trüki- ja Paberikunstikeskus, Print and Paper Art Centre) is a print and paper art centre founded in 2010 as a private-law museum to save the last surviving letterpress machines from destruction. The centre is a memory institution where historic printing presses and binding machines are kept in working order and where visitors can try working on them themselves.
Visitors can take a museum tour, take part in workshops and discover the secrets of paper-making. The centre also has a gallery and a graphic studio, and rooms can be rented.
In 2020 TYPA received the ILUCIDARE special prize for its innovative solution in preserving cultural heritage.
