About the museum
Toulouse is a major aerospace hub, and the Aérothèque was founded in 1988 to present the history of this industry to the public since the early 20th century. The association is a guardian of cultural, social and technological heritage, tracing the history of the Toulouse factories from 1922 to the present day through aircraft and the trades of the profession.
Its showroom was first located near the Saint-Éloi factory. In 2016 the association moved close to the Aéroscopia museum, into an area it shares with the association Les Ailes Anciennes. From the outset it helped create the aeronautical museum of the Toulouse region, to which it lent around forty models tracing 95 years of aviation history, interactive educational tools and the historic mural of world aviation.
The Aérothèque holds an archive, books and objects on the work of the Toulouse factories, offers classroom talks in schools and mentors projects with universities. A new building, named Émile Dewoitine, is being fitted out together with the associations Virtu'Ailes and Cap Avenir Concorde.
