About the museum
The Musée de l'électrification de Bourganeuf, founded in 1998, gave way to the Pôle des Énergies on April 29, 2022. The site is no longer limited to the town’s industrial past and the arrival of electricity: it also addresses climate issues and the energy transition. The Grand’eau site was transformed at a total investment of around €1.34 million, with support from the State. The Pôle opened to the public on May 26, 2022.
The route offers several levels of reading across five themes: the local and historical context, energy transport, the post-war period, nuclear power and ecology. It draws on panels, images and diagrams, videos, a playful model, a reconstruction, books, authentic machines and original mechanical parts.
A photovoltaic canopy covers the site’s car park. The energy mix simulator, used in particular with school classes, lets visitors play with the Pôle’s production facilities and observe the effects. A Micro-Folie, a digital museum opened in December 2023, complements the offer.
