About the museum
The Musée de la photographie de Graçay opened in 1999 on the initiative of the collector Rémy Duroir. It came about through an agreement between this collector, who owns a major collection of photographic and film equipment, and the local authorities. It is located on Place du Marché, in the centre of the village.
The collections include around 3,000 photographic objects, among them a series of cameras ranging from the first daguerreotypes to digital models. The museum also bears the name of Lucien Prévost (1875–1911), a pioneer of cinematography, to whom it devotes documents.
The museum also hosts a gallery showcasing the work of photographers.
