About the museum
The museum occupies the former cellars of the bishop’s palace, a 14th-century building opposite the Cathedral of Notre-Dame de Lescar. It is run by the municipality and displays archaeological objects from the Neolithic to Antiquity.
The present town of Lescar succeeded Beneharnum, the first Gallo-Roman capital of the region. Objects unearthed on this site therefore hold a central place in the collections, and the route also provides information on the history of the town.
