About the museum
The museum “Notre Histoire” is the municipal museum of Rumilly in Haute-Savoie. It presents itself as a place of knowledge and exchange about the history of the town and its inhabitants. It is open all year round, with temporary exhibitions, events and workshops renewed regularly.
The permanent route begins with an introduction on the first floor, then presents the history of Rumilly on the second floor in eight sequences: representing oneself, administering, defending, associating, believing, making, cultivating and producing. It follows the development of the town from the Middle Ages to its industrial conversion in the 20th century, and uses objects, paintings, engravings and testimonies to evoke the life of a town in a rural setting.
The museum puts great emphasis on accessibility: an easy-to-read booklet in French (FALC), a sensory trail with ten stations, a “5 senses” guided tour, a lift and extra seats on every floor. It also offers lectures, the “Rendez-vous du jeudi”, urban walks and activities for children.
