About the museum
The Seyssel Wood Museum is located on the ground floor of the town hall, on Place de la République on the right bank of the Rhône. It has carried the “Musée de France” label since September 2003. It was created to display the works of Claudius Abry, a cabinetmaker and Compagnon du Devoir born in Seyssel.
The collection includes staircases, among them a spiral staircase from a church pulpit and a pavilion staircase, as well as studies of boat propellers and plans of the craftsman’s works.
According to the Musées de France directory (Muséofile) of the Ministry of Culture, the museum is closed for renovation; it may be visited during the European Heritage Days.
