About the museum
The Wattrelos museum of folk arts and traditions was created in a former traditional Picard farm, also known as a cense. According to the tourist office of the Lille metropolitan area, it is the former Dubrulle farm, dating from the late 19th century. The buildings are linked together and arranged around a large square courtyard, typical of this type of farm.
The museum holds a large collection of everyday objects from about 150 years ago that have since disappeared. The objects are grouped into detailed scenes showing life at home, at work and during leisure in the 19th century.
The museum also has a documentation center, which anyone wishing to carry out research can consult on site. It is also available to group leaders preparing a guided visit, for example a tour in patois (regional dialect).
