About the museum
The museum opened on June 18, 1993 in a space of around 1,200 m², on the site of the STAS in Saint-Priest-en-Jarez. It pays tribute to the employees of the CFVE and the STAS who built Saint-Étienne's transport network. It traces around 120 years of public transport in the city, starting in 1881.
The collections show the most representative vehicles of the network: trams, trolleybuses, buses and service vehicles. In 2021, the specialist press counted among the historic pieces two tram motor cars, two trolleybuses, a bus and a service vehicle.
The museum is run by a volunteer association. It is open to the public on Wednesday afternoons, and groups of at least ten people can arrange a visit on another day.
