About the museum
The museum occupies a farm dating from 1777, next to the mill of Vicq. It opened in 1973 on the private initiative of Max Fourny, a publisher and art lover who had assembled a collection of naïve art and popularized the movement through numerous illustrated books.
Until 2014, an association managed the museum and its collections. The museum was then closed for almost ten years for renovation and extension work. It reopened in 2023 under the responsibility of the Vicq town council, with financial support from the Département and the Région.
The collection comprises more than 1,800 works from over 55 countries, including around 200 works by the painter Françoise Adnet, wife of Max Fourny. The site also includes a tea room, a garden and a municipal library.
