Groß & Klein

The special exhibition contrasts big American land yachts with small European cult cars such as the Isetta.

About the museum

The museum in Gebhardsweiler, a district of Uhldingen-Mühlhofen in the hinterland of Meersburg, opened on April 28, 2013, as a private tractor museum. Its core consisted of around 200 historical tractors from about 1900 to 1970, from Germany, Switzerland, France and the USA.

In spring 2017 the museum was extensively remodeled and expanded into a car and tractor museum. It took over large parts of the collection of motoring journalist Fritz B. Busch, whose car museum in Wolfegg had previously closed – around 100 classic cars and 50 motorcycles. Since then the exhibition has comprised about 350 vehicles.

The presentation is distinctive: instead of standing in rows, the vehicles are placed in re-created everyday scenes. The rural life section shows an old schoolroom, workshops and crafts alongside the tractors, while the urban life section displays cars and motorcycles among stores and a historic apartment. The entire exhibition is under one roof and accessible via elevators.

Changing special exhibitions complement the collection, for example on the history of the VW Beetle (2023–2025) or, since 2026, "Groß & Klein" (Big & Small). In summer, historical demonstrations take place in the courtyard. The museum also includes the Jägerhof Restaurant and rooms for celebrations and conferences.
