About the museum
The Bauernmuseum Bamberger Land is run by the Bamberg district and located in the village center of Frensdorf. Its centerpiece is the Fischerhof, a three-wing farmstead whose residential and stable building reflects the early 19th century but still contains remnants of a predecessor from around 1676. The property also includes outbuildings, a bake oven and a fruit drying house.
In the 1920s the farm was among the wealthiest in Frensdorf, and that period shapes its furnishings: furniture, household goods and stencil painting show how a household of family, servants and animals lived and worked together.
In 2004 the district acquired the neighboring inn with a dance hall, which had stood empty for a long time, and after renovation integrated it into the museum concept. Today the rooms serve as a museum inn and for events. A large museum garden with historical crop plants, special exhibitions and museum education programs complements the visit.
