About the museum
Liebenau in the Eastern Ore Mountains is first documented in 1340 and emerged in the 13th century during the large-scale land clearances linked to the region's silver mining. Rural farms still shape the village. The farm museum occupies the barn of a listed three-wing farmstead, plus a newly built exhibition hall for large equipment and an open-air area.
On display are machines, tools and everyday objects of independent family farming in the Eastern Ore Mountains: agricultural machines and tractors, objects from woodworking and smithing, and household items and furniture from the 19th and 20th centuries. The collection of carriages, wagons and sleighs is particularly extensive. Panels also tell the village's history from 1340 to the present.
