About the museum
The village school museum in Enkingen, a district of Möttingen in the Nördlinger Ries, is housed in a single-classroom village school more than a hundred years old. The municipality of Möttingen took over the building in the mid-1990s and renovated it; today the association KulturLand Ries looks after the house.
The school is fully furnished with inventory from various Ries schools. This gives a vivid picture of the school day in earlier village life, when all grades were taught together in one room: the raised teacher's desk overlooks the class, a small staircase let even the youngest pupils reach the blackboard, and a stove with a wood box provided warmth. Visitors can compare much of it with today's school day.
