Erotic Art Museum Hamburg
Small private museum of erotic art in St. Pauli with works by local Kiez artists such as Fiete Frahm and changing themed exhibitions.
About the museum
The Erotic Art Museum opened in November 1992 at Bernhard-Nocht-Straße 69, showing an extensive collection of erotic art from the Middle Ages to the present across a large space, including works by well-known 20th-century artists. After an interlude at Nobistor, it returned to its original location in 2002 and became one of the most visited attractions in St. Pauli.
This original museum closed in 2007, and a legal dispute arose over the building and the collection. Collage artist Friedrich "Fiete" Frahm then continued to show his works under the well-known name and moved to the neighboring buildings in 2012. Frahm died in 2015.
Since 2018 a new, much smaller Erotic Art Museum has existed at Bernhard-Nocht-Straße 79. It combines a reappraisal of Frahm's work, including his characteristic floor-to-ceiling hanging, with works by the artist duo Gilz & Gott and themed exhibitions that change several times a year. Readings, performances, guided tours and programs on digital art round out the offering.
