About the museum
The Grenzlandheimatstuben of the Heimatkreis Marienbad are housed in the Old Post Station on the market square of Bad Neualbenreuth, an Egerland half-timbered farmstead built after the great village fire of 1754. The municipality acquired the building in 1982 and set up a Haus des Gastes (visitor centre) with a tourist information office and the local heritage museum.
Since 1979 Bad Neualbenreuth has been the sponsor municipality of the former villages of Maiersgrün and Grafengrün beyond the Tillenberg in what is now the Czech Republic. Former residents of these places and of the Marienbad district show here what they were able to save during the expulsion in 1945/46.
On display are chests of drawers, chests and an Egerland pantry cupboard with kitchen and household items, as well as linen, embroidery that is in part over a hundred years old, sacred objects, costumes, certificates and historic views of 59 places in the former district.
