Heimathaus Lippramsdorf
Centuries-old farmhouse in Haltern-Lippramsdorf with an exhibition of farm tools and workshops, a farmhouse garden, and an open Tuesday café.
About the museum
The Heimathaus is a Low German hall house in the Lippramsdorf district of Haltern am See. It has been documented since 1749, but is presumably much older; brand marks and drill holes in the timbers show that reused wood from older houses was used in its construction. Originally a three-post house about ten meters long, it was later extended to the north and, in 1923/24, to the south. The Tuttmann family farmed the property until 1974.
The Heimatverein Lippramsdorf (local history association), founded in 1988, long searched for a clubhouse of its own. In 1994 the owner family offered the farmhouse, which had stood empty for years, for rent; members renovated it themselves, and since July 1995 it has been accessible as a meeting place, event venue, and small museum.
At the center is the large threshing floor with the adjoining former stables and sleeping lofts. In the attic, a permanent exhibition shows farm tools and Lippramsdorf craft workshops. Also on view are the good parlor, a farmhouse room, a history room, and an 8.47-meter-long leather guest card with which the village entered the Guinness Book of Records at its 1,100th anniversary celebration in 1988. A bakehouse with an old wood-fired oven and a Münsterland farmhouse garden round out the property.
