About the museum
The Heimatmuseum in Berne opened in November 1996. It is in the village community house in the district of Campe and is looked after by the Bürger- und Heimatverein Berne (citizens' and local heritage association).
On display are tools, household items, agricultural implements, kitchen utensils and keepsakes from Berne and its surroundings, mainly from the last hundred years. Many exhibits come from residents of the village. They show how people worked, lived, cooked and built in the past, and make the change in everyday life and technology tangible.
The museum sees itself as a small place of remembrance for young and old: whoever registers can visit alone, with the family or as a small group.
