About the museum
The Heimatmuseum was run in 1978 by the Verein zur Erhaltung und Pflege heimatlichen Kulturgutes Linnich and, after a long period of collecting and preparation, opened in October 1991. It is located in the service wing of the Dohms-Haus, a former manor farm on Altermarkt, whose main building now houses parts of the town administration.
The collection ranges from prehistoric finds and sacred art to evidence of agriculture, crafts and industrial development, including stoves made by the Linnich entrepreneur Coenen. A particularly notable piece is the Venus of Linnich, a sandstone figure from Roman times.
