About the museum
The Heimatstube is run by the Heimat- und Verkehrsverein Nachrodt-Wiblingwerde (local heritage and transport association), founded in 1977 shortly after the old village of Wiblingwerde was renovated. It is housed in the former fire station next to the primary school.
The focus is the farm household of the 19th and early 20th centuries, with crafts, trade, agriculture, textiles, clothing and furniture. Around 450 objects were inventoried, photographed and catalogued in 2020 as part of the NRW Heimatscheck (heritage check) program. Further themes include sport and leisure, village community life, and landscape and geology.
The Heimatstube also serves as the association's venue for themed evenings, lectures and the harvest thanksgiving festival, and it is a branch of the registry office for weddings in scenic settings (Ambiente-Trauungen). The association also offers guided tours of the Heimatstube and of the neighboring granary from 1597.
